Coming to you from New Orleans...the Butler Family!!!!!!

Heavy Duty

Today marks 4 months for our not so little guy! August Mileston Butler is weighing in at 16.5 lbs and is 25 3/4 inches long. He is absolutely a joy to my life. He has started to grab things, including my hair; setting him in his bouncer makes things quite a bit easier for me now that he is starting to entertain himself. He coos early in the morning, throughout the day and late at night. His cooing is so loud you can hear him if you are standing in another room with your door closed and our door closed. ( I was in Barnes and Noble the other night and August felt like talking. It was cute to the people standing in line and the woman working the customer service desk then when him and I went to sit down to look at what we bought the talking got so loud I decided I needed to leave and go somewhere else where the loud noise wouldn't matter. I think it's hilarious but I am sure other people don't, especially when they are reading. Nevertheless, we went next door to Linens n Things then World Market.) Oh, I must have forgotten to mention that his cooing doesn't sound like he is happy and playing...OH NO... It kind of sounds like he crying, upset, distressed... Not only does he coo but his facial expressions are priceless. It doesn't matter what it is- my little guy is changing so much I can't believe it. My mother-in-law calls him "Heavy Duty" a name that is completely appropriate for this growing boy.

Greensburg, LA

After being in Louisiana for only 5 months I was summoned to jury duty. It was quite the dilemma becasue I am registered out in Greensburg, LA, what people consider out here to be the "country". It is approximately 1 1/2 hours away. I had never ventured my way out there until this past Monday, when Mr. Truman, Truman's dad, took me. I went before the judge and explained that I could not serve because of a variety of reasons. It was as simple as that. She said, "Ashley Butler, excused" and she crossed me off the list. I am not sure why that could not be done over the phone, but whatever. All in all it was a good trip and good for me to get away. Aug slept the whole ride there and some. Peaceful. I would compare Greensburg, LA to Julian, CA with a few minor difference. Definately the whole small town feel is present, but instead of getting pie like in Julian you get friend chicken at the Chicken Hut and the other difference being there are black people. I was suprised to find out that you have to drive at least 15- 20 minutes to the grocery store- Walmart. Really though, the autumn leaves, trees, two lane road, and slow speed limit was such a difference than what I see everyday here in New Orleans. The trip to Greensburg, although somewhat unnecessary, proved to be a wonderful experience.
